Who Are We
On Nas', Lost Tapes II album he has a song titled, Who Are You? Similarly, back in 1993, Dr. Dennis Kimbro asked the question, Who Are We? Then he responded with a quote from James Weldon Johnson stating, “We’re a special people, we’rethe best and the brightest our ancestors ever produced.” We are achievers. We are doctors, entrepreneurs, lawyers, teachers, and writers. We are multiple shades of Black to redbone. We have been to the moon, we have run and led the free world, won the noble peace prize and created technology.
In other words, we are visionaries, innovators, dreamers, creators, leaders, builders and doers. We are African Americans and we are achievers. We excel despite white supremacy. We have shown perseverance by making it past slavery, harassment, discouragement, being the last hired and first fired. From a scale of 1 to 10 we are 100 percent achievers.
